The Adani Group has announced a $100 billion direct investment to develop data centres powered by renewable energy and designed for hyperscale AI readiness by 2035. According to the company, this initiative will create a long-term sovereign platform for energy and computing, positioning India at the forefront of the emerging Intelligence Revolution.

This investment is expected to spur an additional $150 billion in sectors including server manufacturing, advanced electrical infrastructure, sovereign cloud platforms, and other supporting industries by 2035. Collectively, this is expected to result in a $250 billion AI infrastructure ecosystem in India over the next decade.

“At Adani, we are building on our foundation in data centres and green energy to expand into the complete five-layer AI stack focused on India’s technological sovereignty. India will not be a mere consumer in the AI age. We will be the creators, the builders and the exporters of intelligence, and we are proud to be able to participate in that future," Gautam Adani, Chairman of the Adani Group, said in a statement.

This strategy enhances AdaniConneX’s 2 GW national data centre, targeting a 5 GW capacity to position India at the forefront of the global AI economy. It is backed by collaborations with Google to build the largest gigawatt-scale AI data centre in Visakhapatnam, as well as additional campuses in Noida, and by partnerships with Microsoft in Hyderabad and Pune.

The Adani Group is also negotiating with other major companies to establish large-scale campuses across India, reinforcing its role as a key AI infrastructure partner.

In alignment with this vision, the group will deepen its partnership with Flipkart to develop a second AI data centre tailored for next-generation digital commerce, high-performance computing, and extensive AI workloads.

Facilities will focus on high-density computing clusters for advanced AI tasks, using liquid-cooled systems and efficient power systems. Dedicated resources will support Indian LLMs and ensure data sovereignty, backed by reliable transmission networks and advanced grid systems to maintain stability and scalability.

Moreover, the group is using its AI-based industry cloud to expand computing capabilities and enhance logistics, ports, and industrial corridors.
