AI coding startup Cursor is planning a major expansion across the Asia-Pacific region, aiming to hire 200 employees over the next six months as demand for AI-powered software development tools continues to grow.
According to a report by Business Insider, the San Francisco-based company will recruit employees across Singapore, Japan, Sydney, Melbourne and India. The hiring drive will primarily focus on customer-facing and technical roles, including go-to-market teams, field engineers and AI deployment engineers.
The expansion comes shortly after Cursor secured a significant partnership with SpaceX, further strengthening its position in the rapidly growing AI coding sector.
Speaking about the company’s growth plans, Nick Miller, Senior Engineer at Cursor, said, “Cursor intends to expand its presence across Asia-Pacific while also establishing a new office in London by July. The company is additionally exploring smaller office locations across Europe.”
Earlier this month, Simon Green, APJ President at Cursor, launched the company’s Singapore office. The company is also hiring a recruiter for its Singapore operations as it scales its regional workforce.
Cursor currently employs around 800 people across its offices in San Francisco and New York. The company has approximately 90 open positions listed across locations, including Australia, New York, Berlin, London and the Netherlands.
The startup has attracted attention in recent months following its partnership with SpaceX. In April, SpaceX announced an agreement that gives it the option to acquire Cursor for $60 billion or pay $10 billion for the company's work.
“Excited to partner with the SpaceX team to scale up Composer. A meaningful step on our path to build the best place to code with AI,” noted Michael Truell, CEO of Cursor.
Cursor’s client list includes major technology companies such as Stripe, Coinbase, Discord, Salesforce, Neuralink and NVIDIA, reflecting growing enterprise demand for AI-assisted software development tools.
