Amazon Opens Second-Largest Asia Office in Bengaluru

Amazon, on February 23, inaugurated its second-largest office in Asia in North Bengaluru, marking a major expansion of its corporate presence in India. The 1.1 million square feet campus, spread across 12 floors on a five-acre site, can accommodate more than 7,000 employees.

The campus, located about 15 kilometres from the Kempegowda International Airport, is Amazon’s second-largest single-building corporate facility globally and its 10th corporate office in Karnataka.

The office was inaugurated by MB Patil, the state Minister for Large & Medium Industries and Infrastructure Development. The event included a campus walkthrough for dignitaries and media.

“Amazon’s continued investment in Bengaluru reflects India's growing role as a global technology and innovation hub. Large-scale campuses like Amazon’s new campus create high-quality jobs, strengthen the local ecosystem, and support India’s digital economy. We welcome investments that build long-term capability and create opportunity for our workforce,” Patil said.

Samir Kumar, Country Manager, Amazon India, said India remains a long-term priority for the company.

“India continues to be a long-term priority for Amazon, and Bengaluru has played a central role in our journey here. Over the years, the city has been home to some of our earliest technology and business teams, and today it remains a key hub for innovation and talent,” Kumar said.

The campus brings together teams across technology, ecommerce, operations, payments, seller services and leadership functions. Work floors are designed with neighbourhood-style layouts with meeting rooms, huddle spaces, focus booths and breakout areas. Event spaces can host more than 200 people.

The facility includes outdoor amenities such as an amphitheatre, basketball and pickleball courts. Indoor facilities include a games room, wellness room, medical centre with nursing staff, and an interfaith prayer room. A two-storey cafeteria serves multiple cuisines.

The design includes wide doorways, step-free access, elevators, accessible bathrooms, sensory surfaces and ergonomic furniture.

Amazon said the project aligns with its goal of reaching net-zero carbon by 2040 under The Climate Pledge. The campus incorporates responsible material sourcing, the reuse of office assets and high-efficiency systems to reduce carbon emissions.

Safety features include widened exit passageways, integrated fire alarm and public address systems, and defined pedestrian pathways.

Amazon established its presence in Bengaluru more than 20 years ago. In addition to corporate offices, the company operates seven fulfilment centres, three sort centers and more than 130 last-mile delivery stations in the city.
