Anthropic has launched a limited-time promotion that doubles usage limits for its artificial intelligence chatbot Claude when users access the service during off-peak hours.
Announcing the initiative on X, the company wrote, “A small thank you to everyone using Claude. We’re doubling usage outside our peak hours for the next two weeks.”
The initiative, which runs from March 13 to 27, applies to a broad range of Claude users across the company’s Free, Pro, Max and Team plans. During the promotional period, users who access Claude outside weekday peak hours will receive twice their normal usage limits within a five-hour window.
The company defines peak hours as 8 am to 2 pm Eastern Time on weekdays. Users logging in outside that period automatically benefit from the expanded limits. Anthropic says the adjustment is applied automatically and does not require users to enable any additional settings.
The offer covers several ways to access Claude, including the web interface, desktop applications and mobile devices. Anthropic said the doubled limits also extend to a number of its integrations, including Cowork, Claude Code, Claude for Excel and Claude for PowerPoint, allowing users to take advantage of the higher capacity across different workflows.
Anthropic has previously experimented with similar promotions. In the final week of December, the company temporarily doubled usage limits for certain paid subscribers, including those on its Pro and Max tiers. The current campaign expands the benefit to a significantly larger user base, with only Enterprise customers excluded from the programme.
The timing also coincides with a period of heightened attention around the company. Anthropic recently faced tensions with the US Department of Defense after declining requests to loosen certain safeguards within its AI systems. Following the dispute, the company lost a contract with the agency after being designated a supply-chain risk.
Soon after, OpenAI secured a separate agreement with the department. The episode has prompted debate online, with some users saying they would explore alternatives to ChatGPT, including Claude.
While Anthropic has not explicitly linked the promotion to the dispute, the initiative arrives at a moment when interest in the chatbot appears to be rising.
