Anthropic’s India Revenue Run Rate Doubles; Company Opens Bengaluru Office
By Siddharth Jindal ·

US-based AI company Anthropic on February 16 announced the opening of its Bengaluru office and a series of partnerships across enterprise, education, agriculture and public services in India, its second-largest market for Claude.ai.
The company’s India office will come up at Embassy Golf Links in Bengaluru, where it is recruiting talent across various roles. It is going to be Anthropic’s second office in Asia after Tokyo. The company said it will hire local talent across roles as it expands its India operations.
“India represents one of the world’s most promising opportunities to bring the benefits of responsible AI to vastly more people and enterprises,” said Irina Ghose, Managing Director of India, Anthropic. “Already, it’s home to extraordinary technical talent, digital infrastructure at scale, and a proven track record of using technology to improve people’s lives.”
She further added that 6% of its total global conversations are originating from India.
Anthropic said nearly half of Claude’s usage in India comprises computer and mathematical tasks, including building applications, modernising systems and shipping production software. The company added that its run-rate revenue in India has doubled since announcing its expansion in October 2025.
As part of its India push, Anthropic is working to improve performance in Indian languages. Six months ago, the company began curating training data in 10 widely spoken languages—Hindi, Bengali, Marathi, Telugu, Tamil, Punjabi, Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam and Urdu—to narrow the performance gap relative to English.
Anthropic is also collaborating with Karya AI and the Collective Intelligence Project to build evaluations for locally relevant tasks in areas such as agriculture and law. Domain experts from nonprofits, including Digital Green and Adalat AI are involved in the effort. The evaluations will be made publicly available.
In the enterprise segment, Air India is using Claude Code to support software development as part of its AI initiatives. CRED reported faster feature delivery and improved test coverage using Claude Code. Cognizant is deploying Claude to 3,50,000 employees globally to modernise systems and support AI adoption among clients.
Startups are also integrating Claude into their operations. Razorpay is using AI across risk systems and internal processes. Enterpret has integrated Claude into its AI assistant and engineering workflows. Emergent, which allows users to build software using natural language prompts, said it reached $25 million in annual recurring revenue and two million users in under five months using Claude.
In education, Anthropic has partnered with Pratham, which is piloting its Claude-powered Anytime Testing Machine with 1,500 students across 20 schools. The programme is expected to expand to 100 schools by the end of 2026. The tool has also been adapted for over 5,000 learners in Pratham’s Second Chance programme for women who have dropped out of formal schooling. The company said educational and instructional tasks make up 12% of Claude.ai use in India.
Anthropic is also collaborating with Central Square Foundation to provide technical support and API credits to organisations building AI-enabled tools such as tutors and teacher support systems for primary education.
In agriculture, the company is working with the EkStep Foundation through the OpenAgriNet initiative to deploy Claude in applications aimed at expanding access to expert knowledge.
In healthcare and social services, Anthropic said Claude Code and Cowork are being used within nonprofits, including Noora Health and Intelehealth.
To address delays in the judicial system, Anthropic is supporting Adalat AI in launching a national WhatsApp helpline that provides case updates, translation, document summaries and interactive access to legal information in Indian languages.
Anthropic also highlighted the Model Context Protocol, an open-source standard it created and recently donated to the Linux Foundation. The Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation of India, with support from Bharat Digital, has launched a government MCP server to enable access to national statistics through AI systems. Swiggy is using MCP to enable grocery ordering and dining reservations through Claude.
