Aerospace startup Airbound has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Andhra Pradesh Drone Corporation (APDC) to develop a large-scale drone delivery network across the Amaravati Capital Region, aiming to accelerate the development of drone-led logistics infrastructure in India.

The partnership targets enabling 10,000 daily drone flights across Andhra Pradesh over the next year. The network will initially focus on connecting Amaravati, Vijayawada, and Guntur, with operations expected to begin in Guntur first.

Under the collaboration, Airbound will work with stakeholders across healthcare, logistics, and e-commerce to establish drone-based delivery services. The initiative is expected to improve mid-mile connectivity, enable faster movement of healthcare supplies and commercial goods, and support the development of Andhra Pradesh's emerging drone economy.

Airbound said the network will be powered by its proprietary blended-wing-body tailsitter aircraft, designed for large-scale aerial logistics. The Bengaluru-based startup claims the platform can reduce delivery costs significantly compared with conventional transportation methods.

"By partnering with a home-grown company to build one of the world's largest drone delivery networks, Andhra Pradesh is demonstrating that cutting-edge technology can be designed, built and scaled in India," Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu said during the announcement.

Airbound Founder and CEO Naman Pushp said the partnership aims to transform drone delivery into shared public infrastructure rather than a niche service. "When we make that work in Amaravati, Vijayawada, and Guntur, it becomes a template for how cities and states across India can treat drone delivery as shared infrastructure," he said.

The rollout will include pilot operations, route mapping, regulatory coordination, and the gradual development of interconnected drone corridors across the Amaravati region. Airbound has completed more than 10,000 flights in India, including healthcare logistics operations with Narayana Health.
