Bihar Chief Minister, Samrat Choudhary, recently revealed on X the state government’s plan to introduce a dedicated AI policy to transform Bihar into a major AI hub in the country.

Speaking at the Bihar AI Summit 2026 at Urja Auditorium in Patna, Choudhary said AI is expected to become an integral part of daily life in the coming years and urged young people to contribute towards the state’s digital transformation.

He added that AI will become an important part of life. “India has already witnessed a major communication revolution under Prime Minister Narendra Modi.”

Highlighting the country’s digital expansion, Choudhary said nearly 1.2 billion people in India currently use mobile phones. He noted that AI technologies are expected to further accelerate governance reforms and service delivery across sectors.

According to the Chief Minister, all government departments in Bihar have been directed to adopt AI-based technologies to improve transparency and accountability in the implementation of schemes and public services.

The proposed AI policy is expected to focus on strengthening digital infrastructure, encouraging innovation, and creating employment opportunities within the state. Choudhary said sustained efforts would be undertaken to position Bihar among India’s leading AI-driven states.

The summit was organised by Bihar’s Information Technology Department, in collaboration with the Bihar Industries Association and Qlass EdTech. The event also saw participation from BharatGPT Founder Ankush Sabharwal, along with senior government officials.

Alongside the AI announcement, Choudhary also unveiled major infrastructure plans for the state. He said a 125-km-long Ganga Expressway would be constructed under the public-private partnership model at an estimated cost of ₹30,000 crore within the next three years.
