Anthropic’s AI chatbot Claude is experiencing a temporary outage, disrupting access for users and developers.
“Claude is currently experiencing a temporary service disruption. We’re working on it. Please check back soon,” read the message on the chatbot’s homepage.
The first signs of disruption appeared early on the morning of March 3, around 8.30 am IST, when users began reporting that Claude was not responding to prompts. Some said conversations wouldn’t load, while others received “service unavailable” messages.

By 10.00 am IST, reports of the outage had increased, with users sharing screenshots of error messages on social media platforms. The issue appeared to affect the Claude web interface, mobile app and Claude Code.
In India, more than 300 users flagged issues during the same period. Around 43% of complaints were related to Claude Chat, while 21% involved Claude Code and 36% involved the website, according to Downdetector.
In an update at 10.13 am IST on March 3 (04.43 UTC), Anthropic said it was continuing to investigate the issue.
This is the second outage in less than 24 hours for Anthropic’s Claude. The chatbot was previously down on March 2 between 5 pm and 8 pm across several regions.
