Cursor has launched Cursor Start, a new subscription plan exclusively for developers in India, priced at ₹649 per month inclusive of tax, as the AI coding platform deepens its presence in one of its fastest-growing markets.
The plan includes access to Grok 4.5, Cursor’s flagship coding model, Composer, higher agent request limits than the Free tier, always-on cloud agents and UPI payments.
The company said its user base in India has tripled over the past year to more than three million developers, making the country its third-largest market globally.
It also said India has more power users than any other region, with developers generating more agent requests per user than anywhere else.
“For a long time, our users in India have asked us for two things: pricing that reflects the local market, and the ability to pay with UPI,” the company said.
Cursor Start sits between the company’s Free and Pro subscriptions. It includes Grok 4.5, Composer, higher agent request limits, always-on cloud agents, iOS support, and integrations with plugins, MCP servers, hooks and skills.
The subscription is billed in Indian rupees and supports payments via UPI, credit cards and debit cards.
“Cursor Start sits between our two other individual plans, Free and Pro,” said the company. Cursor said the Free plan is designed for first-time users, offering Composer access and a limited number of local agent requests each month without requiring payment.
The Pro plan targets heavier users, adding access to models from multiple AI providers alongside Cursor's own models, as well as features including Bugbot, Auto mode, Automations, the Cursor SDK and the ability to purchase additional usage beyond included limits. The Pro plan is priced at $20 per month.
According to the company, Start is intended for everyday development workloads, while Pro is aimed at developers requiring broader model access and advanced automation capabilities.
Cursor is also expanding its developer outreach in India. The company announced community events in Hyderabad on July 30 and Bengaluru on August 1, saying it plans to learn from Indian developers before considering similar localised plans in other markets.
