Cyient Foundation, the CSR arm of global technology company Cyient, has launched a major multi-stakeholder initiative with Telangana’s higher education institutions and government bodies to strengthen innovation, entrepreneurship, employability, and future-ready skills across the state.
The initiative, formalised through a series of memorandums of understanding (MoUs), brings together five state universities—Osmania University, Kakatiya University, Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University Hyderabad, Palamuru University, and Dr BR Ambedkar Open University—along with the Telangana government’s Commissionerate of Collegiate Education (CCE) and Commissionerate of Technical Education (CTE).
As part of the programme, Cyient Foundation has proposed an investment of approximately ₹7.5 crore over three years, subject to approvals and implementation milestones.
The initiative aims to create a scalable model for industry-academia-government collaboration focused on entrepreneurship, faculty development, innovation ecosystems, mentorship, and employability.
The programme will reach 152 government degree colleges and 59 government polytechnics through partnerships with the CCE and CTE, providing students across urban and rural Telangana with access to industry exposure, skill development, and entrepreneurship opportunities.
Speaking on the initiative, Dr BVR Mohan Reddy, Founder Chairman, Cyient, said, "This initiative reflects our belief that meaningful collaboration between government, academia, and industry can transform aspirations into opportunities. By empowering students, faculty, and communities across Telangana, we are not just creating skilled professionals—we are enabling future innovators, job creators, and nation-builders."
A major focus of the initiative will be preparing students for emerging technologies and future industry demands.
Training programmes will cover areas such as generative AI, data analytics, robotics and automation, Internet of Things (IoT), drone technology, GIS and geospatial technologies, Industry 4.0, cloud technologies, and certification-led learning pathways.
The Foundation will also establish three Rural Skill Development Centres at Palamuru University and Dr BR Ambedkar Open University in Narayanpet, Mahabubnagar, and Warangal. The centres are expected to train around 600 youth annually, with a focus on healthcare, electronics manufacturing, and digital commerce. The programme aims to ensure more than 50% participation from women while improving employment outcomes.
In parallel, the Entrepreneurship Development Programme (EDP) is expected to reach over 4,000 students every year, with around 400 participants receiving structured entrepreneurship training. The initiative is projected to generate nearly 200 business ideas and 40 startup teams annually.
To strengthen Telangana’s innovation ecosystem, the programme will also support 20–25 startups each year through incubation and mentorship, with an estimated 5–10 startups progressing toward commercialisation annually. Additionally, more than 200 faculty members will be trained, while over 50 industry experts will be engaged as mentors.
The initiative is expected to create a strong pipeline of skilled professionals, entrepreneurs, innovators, and job creators while positioning Telangana’s higher education institutions as key drivers of innovation-led and inclusive economic growth.
