TELUS Digital, a global tech and customer service company that helps enterprises build digital products, manage customer care, and train AI models, has signed an agreement with the Indian Institute of Science (IISc). The agreement covers research collaboration, talent development, and exchange between the two organisations.

TELUS Digital provides digital customer experience services and works on transformation projects for its clients. The company operates with teams that support client products and services, and works on business challenges, risk management and innovation projects for clients globally.

It operates technology and customer service centres in multiple locations in India, including Bengaluru.

Amith Nair, General Manager of AI Services Delivery at TELUS Digital, said that while IISc has researchers, TELUS Digital brings AI and engineering problems at a scale not found in a classroom.

Amar Naik, Vice President, Engineering at TELUS Digital, added that IISc researchers will work with the company's teams on research and development projects and take part in internships and assistantships.

"IISc researchers will work alongside our teams on live R&D projects, move through internships and assistantships with us, and graduate having already solved the kind of problems we hire for,” Naik noted in a statement.

"This partnership will facilitate converting scientific research into practical solutions that can be deployed,” Prof Ambedkar Dukkipati, Chair of the Centre for Scientific and Industrial Consultancy at IISc, shared.

The partnership sets out four areas of work: joint research and development projects; workshops, training and internships for students; exchange of researchers, students and publications between the organisations; and academic events and interactions between experts.

TELUS Digital said the agreement extends its activities in India, describing the partnership as a long-term arrangement related to research and technology development in the country.
