Equal AI, the company behind India’s AI-powered call assistant has raised $30 million in a Series B funding round co-led by Prosus Ventures and Tomales Bay Capital. The funding will be used to expand the platform’s AI capabilities and support its vision of becoming an everyday AI assistant for Indian users.
The latest round comes less than a year after the company raised $10 million in its Series A funding round. The investment also saw participation from Think Investments, Valiant Fund, PhonePe Founder Sameer Nigam, Airtel Family Office’s Zubin Bharti Mittal and several other strategic investors.
Founded in 2022, Equal initially started as a data-sharing and identity infrastructure company before entering the consumer AI space in October 2025 with the launch of its AI call assistant.
According to the company, Equal AI has surpassed one million monthly active users and 3,50,000 daily active users, making it one of India’s largest AI voice products. The platform helps users manage incoming calls by blocking spam, identifying callers, understanding caller intent and taking actions on behalf of users.
The company now plans to expand beyond call management into areas such as communications, financial services, shopping, lifestyle and concierge services.
Keshav Reddy, Founder of Equal, said, “The company is building a long-term AI platform for Indian consumers.”
“More than a million Indians are already using Equal AI every month to take back control of their phones. We are now expanding beyond calls into several everyday services to create a trusted AI assistant for every Indian,” he added.
Thiago Viana, Global Co-Head of Prosus Ventures, described Equal AI as a “category-defining” consumer AI product. He added that the company has the potential to become an AI lifestyle concierge for millions of Indians.
“Equal AI’s rapid growth reflects a broader shift in consumer behaviour, with users increasingly trusting AI tools to handle communication and routine tasks,” noted Iqbaljit Kahlon, Founder and Managing Partner, Tomales Bay Capital.
The company said the fresh capital will be used to strengthen its AI assistant capabilities, scale operations and accelerate product development as it targets India’s growing smartphone user base.
