Flam, an AI interactive content company, has raised $40 million in Series B funding led by QED Investors, with the capital going towards research and development on its AI models, product-suite expansion and global enterprise sales, the company said on September 14.
Claypond Capital, Martin Chavez, Olivier Pomel, Venky Harinarayan and Shah Rukh Khan (SRK Family Office) joined the round, while existing investors RTP Global and Dovetail increased their investments, the company further stated.
Flam said it has signed more than 100 enterprise customers in six quarters, including Google, State Farm and Diageo. The company said its technology is used across marketing, product visualisation, learning and development, entertainment, fan engagement, customer support and sales.
“Flam is built on a simple observation. Content has moved in waves, from text to images to video, and every wave flowed one way, creator to viewer. We think interactive is the next default for the internet,” said Shourya Agarwal, Founder of Flam. “The demand was always there. The technology wasn’t. We have made interactivity effortless to build and deploy at enterprise scale.”
Flam said its platform supports three content formats: Flicks, Airboards and Visual Agents. It also said it holds more than 15 patents.
Flicks are interactive videos that can switch people, products or scenes during playback. Flam said its patented compression technology delivers a 50-millisecond time-to-first-buffer, while its Forge editing model can modify specified elements in image references.
Airboards provide high-fidelity 3D content through a camera interface with touch, voice and haptic interactions. Flam said its 3D streaming technology loads Airboards in 300 milliseconds without requiring an app, while its Fable image-to-video model generates assets as native alpha-channel videos.
Visual Agents are human-like characters designed to hold conversations and take agentic actions. Flam said Fantom handles facial expression through identity preservation and motion transfer, Finesse provides voice capabilities in any language, and Falcon, a 26-billion-parameter mixture-of-experts large language model, delivers responses with a 30-millisecond time-to-first-token. The company said its pipeline returns an answer in under two seconds.
“Almost every frontier AI content company we see is optimising what already exists. Flam pointed at something else: how much of the content ecosystem is still untouched. That gap is bigger than most people think, and Flam is the first team we've seen with the infrastructure to go after it,” said Nigel Morris, Co-Founder and Managing Partner at QED Investors.
Flam was founded in 2021 and is headquartered in San Francisco, with teams in India and Japan. The company said it has more than 100 enterprise customers globally.
