Bengaluru-based Flo Mobility, a physical AI solutions startup for the construction sector, has secured $2.5 million in a pre-Series A funding round co-led by Mela Ventures and Arali Ventures. This investment will be used to enhance manufacturing, improve its vertical AI and autonomy framework, expedite deployments throughout India, and venture into international markets.
Established in 2021 by CEO Manesh Jain and COO Pratik Patel, Flo Mobility is innovating in the use of physical AI solutions in the construction industry, one of the largest, yet least automated, fields globally.
“The market imperative of today, [such as] acute labour shortage driving up timelines and costs in construction, coupled with the evolution of technology, i.e. rapid development of vision models and lowering costs of hardware components, makes for great timing for Flo Mobility to make a ‘material movement’ in the construction robotics landscape,” Rajiv Raghunandan, Managing Partner at Arali Ventures, said in a statement.
Flo Mobility is creating a specialised robotics platform for construction that combines proprietary hardware, AI models, and autonomous software for perception, intelligence, and action. Starting with material movement, the company aims to automate tasks like tiling, wall finishing, and screeding.
The Flo Hauler, the company’s first product, is a battery-powered Autonomous Mobile Robot (AMR) that navigates unstructured terrain and operates across multiple floors. It can carry loads of up to 1.5 tonnes, transporting heavy construction materials efficiently between storage areas and job sites.
“Our robots do not replace the skilled labour that builds India’s cities; they free that labour to do the work that matters. This funding gives us the firepower to scale our deployments, build more robots, and expand internationally. We’ve proven the model. Now we're going to take it to every major construction market in the world,” Jain said in a statement.
With over 60 robots deployed across 10 states, Flo Mobility is collaborating with major developers such as L&T and Godrej Properties.
“Manesh and Pratik’s…traction with marquee logos in the industry in India and early proof-points in the Middle East validates the approach, and we're excited to partner with them as they scale globally,” Viju George, Partner at Mela Ventures, stated.
With this fundraising, the company aims to enhance product development, strengthen its presence in India, and expand into the Middle East.
