Semiconductor startup HrdWyr has raised $13 million in a Series A funding round led by Ideaspring Capital, as the company looks to accelerate development of its AI native chip products for edge computing applications and expand globally.
The round also saw participation from Singularity AMC, Avatar Growth Capital and existing investor Persistent Systems.
The Bengaluru-based company said the fresh capital will be used to scale its AI-native System-on-Chip (AISoC) products and deepen customer engagements across key international markets.
HrdWyr is building purpose-built AI chips designed for industries where power efficiency, low latency and real-time processing are critical. The startup said its semiconductor architecture is designed to enable Physical AI, in which intelligent systems operate directly in real-world environments rather than solely through cloud-based computing.
“The real power of AI will be unlocked as we enter the era of Physical AI, where advanced intelligence seamlessly integrates with real-world systems,” said Ramamurthy Sivakumar, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of HrdWyr. “This inflexion point demands a fundamental rethinking of how computing systems are conceived, architected and deployed.”
The company’s technology stack is built around what it calls a ‘True Edge Autonomy’ framework, which integrates reinforcement learning-based AI directly into chip architecture to improve on-device intelligence and responsiveness.
HrdWyr said it operates as a full-stack fabless semiconductor company, differentiating itself from traditional IP licensing and semiconductor services firms.
Investors said HrdWyr’s focus on energy-efficient AI chips aligns with the growing demand for domestic semiconductor capabilities and intelligent edge systems across sectors such as consumer electronics, electric vehicles and industrial applications.
“HrdWyr is building a family of AI chips addressing power management and efficiency across multiple sectors, including white goods, EVs and data centres. This is very important to Ideaspring’s thesis of building products from India for the world and also becoming self-reliant in semiconductors,” Naganand Doraswamy, Managing Partner and Founder, Ideaspring Capital, said.
The startup recently announced a strategic collaboration with audio and wearables brand boAt, marking an early validation of its consumer technology applications.
