IITM Pravartak Technologies Foundation has partnered with ICT Solutions provider SRIT India Limited to accelerate the adoption of ShaktiDB, an indigenously developed enterprise database platform designed to support India’s sovereign digital infrastructure.
The initiative is funded by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), Government of India and is being executed jointly by IITM Pravartak, IIT Madras and the Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (CDAC).
Through the collaboration, SRIT will leverage its implementation expertise and domain presence to support large-scale deployment of ShaktiDB across enterprise and government environments that rely heavily on database infrastructure.
The partnership aims to address the growing demand for secure, sovereign and scalable database platforms while supporting India’s push towards technological self-reliance and trusted digital systems.
MJ Shankar Raman, CEO, IITM Pravartak, said, “Our mission is to build and scale sovereign, deep-tech innovations that strengthen India’s digital backbone, through home-grown solutions like the ShaktiDB database system.”
He added that this collaboration represents a strategic step towards accelerating indigenous technology adoption and enabling institutions to confidently transition to secure, enterprise-grade platforms developed in India.
ShaktiDB is an enterprise-grade database platform built on a hardened version of PostgreSQL. It integrates innovations from the global open-source ecosystem with enterprise-level security, regulatory compliance and government capabilities designed to meet the requirements of government and regulated industries.
According to the organisations, the platform is designed for mission-critical deployments and offers features such as enhanced data sovereignty, enterprise-grade security, scalability and lower total cost of ownership.
“SRIT is proud to partner in advancing homegrown technological capabilities that align with national priorities”, said Madhu Nambiar, Chairman, SRIT. “By working closely with IITM Pravartak, we are not only embracing innovation but also contributing to the larger vision of technological self-reliance and future-ready digital infrastructure in the country,” he noted.
Founded in 1999 and headquartered in Bengaluru, SRIT provides ICT and automation solutions across sectors including healthcare, telecommunications and government. The company specialises in application development, infrastructure deployment and managed services for large-scale digital systems.
IITM Pravartak Technologies Foundation essentially focuses on advancing research and innovation in sensors, networking, actuators and control systems.
