Access to Supabase, a popular open-source backend platform used by developers and startups, has been fully restored across India.
“We are pleased to inform our community that access to Supabase’s website supabase.co has now been fully restored for all users across India. We sincerely thank the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) for their prompt action and constructive engagement in resolving this matter,” the company said in a post on X.
It added that access to its services has now been restored for developers, businesses, and builders across India.
The restoration comes days after users in India reported that Supabase was inaccessible on several major internet service providers (ISPs), including Reliance Jio, Airtel, and ACT Fibernet. The disruption left many developers unable to access dashboards, APIs, and other tools used to build and manage applications.
The issue began around February 24, when the domain supabase.co became unreachable on several networks. Supabase had initially said the problem appeared to stem from an ISP-level block and advised affected users to temporarily switch DNS settings or use a VPN as a workaround.
Subsequent reports suggested the disruption may have been linked to a government blocking order issued under Section 69A of India’s Information Technology Act. However, authorities did not publicly disclose the reason for the action.
Supabase had earlier sought clarification and assistance from India’s Minister for Electronics and IT, Ashwini Vaishnaw, via a social media post on X.
