Infosys has expanded its work with ABN AMRO Bank as the Dutch lender seeks to modernise its technology systems and increase the use of artificial intelligence.
The companies’ relationship dates back to 2019, when Infosys announced a strategic partnership with ABN AMRO alongside its acquisition of a 75% stake in the bank’s mortgage-services subsidiary Stater. ABN AMRO retained the remaining 25% stake.
Under the expanded engagement, Infosys will provide application development, testing and support services. The work will use Infosys Topaz, the company’s AI platform that incorporates generative and agentic AI technologies.
“The renewed collaboration with Infosys will help further to simplify and modernize our IT landscape, while accelerating the responsible adoption of AI across the company,” Carsten Bittner, Chief Innovation and Technology Officer at ABN AMRO Bank, said. The engagement would also enhance operational efficiency and help reduce complexity and operating costs, he added.
Infosys and ABN AMRO said the expanded work would take AI beyond individual projects and into wider operations. Infosys said it would apply its AI capabilities across the bank’s technology environment, with the aim of improving operational efficiency and scalability and strengthening digital services.
Jay Nair, EVP and Industry Head for Financial Service and Public Sector at Infosys, said the renewal “marks an important milestone” in the relationship with ABN AMRO. He said Infosys would use its domain expertise and Topaz platform to help re-architect core systems and operationalise AI, with the work focused on “precision, efficiency, and long-term sustainability” for the bank.
Infosys has expanded its technology-modernisation work with banks. In June, it extended its engagement with DNB Bank to consolidate financial crime systems onto a cloud-based platform, replacing fragmented legacy infrastructure with a unified system for monitoring and investigations.
Infosys has also been expanding its use of agentic AI in software engineering. In January, it announced a collaboration with Cognition to deploy Devin across its internal engineering operations and client engagements, with its Financial Services practice leading initial engagements across banking, payments, capital markets, insurance and wealth management.
The announcement did not disclose the financial terms of the expanded collaboration.
