Infosys has collaborated with the CMMI Institute to help develop an enterprise AI maturity framework.
The framework, known as the CMMI AI Maturity (AIM) Framework, is designed to help organisations assess, benchmark, and improve AI implementation across enterprise and regulatory environments. According to Infosys, the framework links AI governance and operational practices to measurable business outcomes.
As an early participant in the pilot programme, Infosys said it contributed insights from large-scale AI deployments, governance models, and enterprise software engineering practices. The company used its AI offerings under the Infosys Topaz portfolio to support the initiative and validate elements of the framework across delivery environments.
“As one of the initial organisations to pilot the CMMI AIM framework and contribute to the content and assessment method, we are defining what responsible, enterprise-grade AI adoption looks like in practice. Powered by Infosys Topaz, our sustained investments in AI maturity across governance, productivity, and outcomes give our clients a tested, structured path to realise AI value at scale,” Dinesh Rao, Executive Vice President and Chief Delivery Officer, Infosys, said in a statement.
The pilot assessment covered AI-augmented software development, maintenance, testing, and support operations across Infosys' service lines and global delivery centres. The evaluation examined how AI is integrated into software engineering workflows, including productivity, quality, governance, and responsible AI practices.
Infosys said its participation helped refine aspects of the emerging model, including performance alignment to business outcomes, consistency of AI practices, risk and compliance management, and accountability in AI-driven decision-making. The company added that the framework is intended to provide enterprises with a structured approach to assessing AI adoption and maturity.
The pilot was conducted by the CMMI Institute, which develops process improvement and capability assessment frameworks, with consulting support from KPMG. Infosys said the recognition reflects its ongoing investments in AI-led software engineering and enterprise-scale AI deployment.
“Infosys brought deep, practical perspectives to the CMMI AIM pilot, reflecting the realities of deploying AI at scale in a global enterprise. Their participation…confirmed the usefulness of the CMMI AIM best practices that will help organisations worldwide adopt AI in a more structured, responsible, mature, and outcome-focused manner,” Ron Lear, Vice President, CMMI Global Strategies, CMMI Institute, added.
