LTM has partnered with the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kharagpur to design training programmes aimed at strengthening artificial intelligence capabilities across its workforce, as part of a broader push to align skills with evolving enterprise and client demands.

The collaboration will include targeted AI learning modules, hands-on workshops, and research initiatives. The programme is designed to build advanced technology capabilities, enable deeper immersion in AI, and develop domain-aligned skills tied to real project contexts.

Gururaj Deshpande, Chief Delivery Officer at LTM, told AIM that the partnership builds on existing internal skilling efforts while addressing the need for deeper technical and research exposure.

“This collaboration with IIT Kharagpur reflects our commitment to talent transformation by combining academic excellence with real-world application. Continuous skill development is essential to ensure our workforce remains relevant, resilient, and prepared to operate effectively in an AI-driven, rapidly changing technology landscape,” he added.

On the rationale for the partnership, Deshpande said that while LTM already runs internal programmes, external academic collaborations bring additional depth.

“At LTM, continuous learning sits at the heart of how we build future-ready capabilities for our clients. While our internal skilling programmes are robust and constantly evolving, meaningful partnerships with leading academic institutions enable us to deepen that foundation with fresh research perspectives and advanced technical expertise.”

He further said that institutions such as IIT Kharagpur provide access to emerging talent and strengthen the company’s ability to deliver AI solutions that remain “relevant, responsible, and ahead of the curve.”

In a statement, Prof Niloy Ganguly, Head of the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at IIT Kharagpur, said the institute will contribute academic and research expertise to the initiative.

“Collaborations such as this allow us to extend our academic expertise beyond the classroom and into industry-relevant contexts. We look forward to working closely with LTM to create and offer meaningful learning programs and research opportunities in artificial intelligence and related domains,” he said.

According to Deshpande, the training curriculum will be closely aligned with client requirements to ensure practical applicability.

“The programme is designed to build advanced technology capabilities, enable deep immersion in AI, and deliver domain-aligned skills that mirror the evolving needs of modern enterprises,” he said, adding that this approach enables teams to translate technical capability into measurable business impact.

On participation, he noted that nearly 85% of LTM’s workforce has already undergone AI training through internal initiatives, and the new collaboration will extend that effort.

“Participation will be guided by project requirements and client priorities, enabling teams on specific engagements to deepen their AI capabilities through focused, specialised learning,” he said, adding that enrolment will remain demand-driven rather than fixed.

Deshpande said the initiative is expected to strengthen LTM’s ability to deliver AI-led transformation for enterprise clients.

“We focus on building AI capabilities that catalyse enterprise transformation. By strengthening technology expertise alongside domain-oriented AI skills, we enable clients to accelerate the adoption of AI-led solutions across industries with clarity and confidence,” he added.

The collaboration is intended as a long-term engagement rather than a short-term training effort.

“Our intent is to build a long-term engagement that draws on the institute’s research depth and academic ecosystem to foster deeper learning, continuous innovation, and ongoing capability development across our teams.”
