Pune-based defence tech startup olee.space has launched a 2 KW AI-enabled laser sniper mounted on an unmanned ground vehicle. The company said the system has completed field testing and is ready for operational deployment and sale.
The startup developed the system to support close-combat and perimeter-defence operations using directed-energy weapons. It can neutralise, dazzle or functionally damage hostile personnel, vehicles and equipment within seconds, the company said.
It added that the unmanned ground vehicle measures about 5 ft x 3 ft and weighs under 250 kg. It is powered by a diesel engine and has an operational range of more than 130 km.
The platform supports autonomous navigation, target recognition and AI/ML-based engagement. It can be deployed autonomously at the press of a button, the company said.
James Solomon, Founder and CEO of olee.space, said in a statement, “This development represents a decisive shift in how ground combat and perimeter defence will be approached in the future.”
He added that by combining directed energy, AI, and autonomous mobility in an extremely compact form factor, the company enhances battlefield effectiveness while significantly reducing risk to human lives.
The system can operate in coordinated swarm formations, with multiple unmanned vehicles working together to secure perimeters and tactical zones. The company said the platform can support infantry and special forces in close-combat scenarios. The system is intended for use across urban areas, borders, forests, deserts, and rugged terrain.
It is designed to reduce risk to personnel during perimeter breaches and hostile incursions. Following field trials with defence stakeholders, the platform has reached operational readiness, according to the company. It is also in discussions with international defence and security clients allied with India.
