The Agriculture Department of the Rajasthan government has signed a non-financial memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Wadhwani AI Foundation through Lords Education Group to introduce AI-driven solutions for agricultural services and farmer support across the state.
According to an official release, the agreement was signed at Pant Krishi Bhawan in Jaipur in the presence of senior officials from the department.
Under the partnership, Wadhwani AI will provide technical support to the state government for a period of three years without any financial burden on the government.
Agriculture Commissioner Naresh Kumar Goyal said the initiative aligns with the state government’s broader plans to develop AI-based agricultural models and establish a centre of excellence focused on AI-enabled farming and rural services.
The department stated that Rajasthan has already created digital farmer IDs for nearly 95 lakh farmers across the state. These IDs include land records, khasra details, and Aadhaar-linked credentials, forming a digital agriculture database that can support crop insurance systems, fertiliser distribution monitoring, and urea tracking mechanisms.
As part of the collaboration, several AI-powered tools will be introduced to improve farmer outreach and agricultural decision-making.
One of the platforms, Agrivani, is a multilingual AI chatbot that will allow farmers to interact through voice or text in local languages and receive agriculture-related guidance and advisory support.
Another platform, CropAce, uses computer vision technology to detect crop diseases and pest infestations from photographs uploaded directly from farms. The system is designed to provide treatment recommendations verified by agricultural experts.
The partnership will also include deploying a smartphone-based Soybean Grain Analyser application to help farmers digitally assess soybean quality, grading standards, and protein content.
Moreover, the Agri AI Collect and News Monitoring platform will support digital field record management and help administrative departments with agriculture-related monitoring and decision-making.
Officials said the collaboration reflects the growing use of AI and digital infrastructure in Indian agriculture, particularly in areas such as crop monitoring, advisory systems, farmer databases, and agricultural governance.
