Salesforce has expanded its Agentforce platform with a portfolio of AI agents that can handle business tasks across sales, customer service, commerce, employee support and supply chain operations, as companies look to deploy AI for longer and more complex workflows.

The company said the new agents are built around specific business roles rather than requiring customers to create every agent from scratch. Salesforce also introduced a long-horizon runtime that allows agents to pursue goals over days and weeks, starting with its outbound sales agent Hunter.

“Putting agents to work requires more than intelligence,” Salesforce said in its announcement. “Agents need to understand the job, work across the business, and keep moving toward a goal as the work gets more complex.”

The portfolio includes Casey for customer support, Paige for IT and HR service, Carter for shopping assistance, Hunter for outbound sales, Marshall for supply chain operations, Piper for inbound lead generation and Fin for customer experience workflows.

Casey, Paige, Carter, Marshall, Piper and Fin are generally available, while Hunter is currently in pilot and is scheduled for general availability in November.

Salesforce said the agents are connected to its Customer 360 platform, allowing them to use customer data, business processes and existing workflows within Salesforce. Companies can also customise the agents, including changing their names to reflect their own brands.

According to Salesforce, the company has delivered seven billion Agentic Work Units across Agentforce and Slack over the past two years, including 3.2 billion during the second quarter. The company said those deployments helped shape the development of the new portfolio.

Each agent comes with pre-built skills, actions and data models for its intended role. Salesforce said customers can further control how agents behave through Agent Script, its open-source language that combines AI reasoning with deterministic business rules.

The company also shared customer results from existing deployments. Engine’s help agent Eva resolves 50% of chat inquiries without human intervention, while Perk’s Hunter agent has generated 60% of its sales pipeline, Salesforce said.

The long-horizon runtime is intended to support work that extends beyond a single interaction. Salesforce said Hunter can take a goal such as rescuing at-risk sales deals before the end of a quarter, create a plan, determine required tasks and tools, and continue progressing as new information becomes available while seeking approval where required.
