Snowflake has brought updates to Snowflake Intelligence and Cortex Code that will help enterprises deploy AI agents, connect data systems, and automate workflows on a single platform.
The updates target both business users and developers. Snowflake said the tools allow organisations to connect enterprise data, integrate applications, and move AI systems from experimentation to production. The company positions the platform as a control layer for enterprise AI.
Snowflake Intelligence now functions as a work agent for business users. It can analyse data, automate tasks, and deliver insights based on enterprise data. The system also learns user behaviour over time to improve responses and automate recurring work.
“AI is changing how every company operates, and the platforms that win will make it easy to put AI into practice with the right data and guardrails,” said Baris Gultekin, VP of AI at Snowflake.
The company introduced features such as workflow automation through natural language, integration with enterprise tools, and a mobile app. It also added deep research capabilities that generate multi-step reports using both structured and unstructured data.
Bala Kasiviswanathan, VP of AI and Developer Experiences at Snowflake, said the company is focused on outcomes rather than model benchmarks. “The real bottleneck in enterprise AI isn’t model quality, it’s whether the AI system actually understands the business and data context,” he said in response to AIM’s query.
He added that customers are measuring impact based on speed and execution. “The metric that matters is moving from a question to an action in a single step,” he said, citing reduced decision time and faster development cycles.

On safeguards, Kasiviswanathan said Snowflake embeds governance into the platform. “Every AI action is governed by the same permissions and policies that already exist,” he said. He added that users can review and approve workflows before execution.
The company said the platform acts as a coordination layer rather than replacing models. It integrates with third-party AI systems while keeping enterprise data and policies centralised.
Cortex Code also supports developers working across multiple data systems. The platform enables teams to build, deploy, and manage AI applications across environments.
The company said more than 50% of its customers use Cortex Code. The latest updates extend support to systems such as AWS Glue, Databricks, and Postgres. Developers can also integrate the platform with other AI tools using new protocols.
Kasiviswanathan said the company aims to avoid vendor lock-in by supporting open ecosystems. “We bring AI to the data, wherever it lives,” he said, adding that customers can choose tools and models while Snowflake provides a unified data layer.
Snowflake also introduced a software development kit for Python and TypeScript, along with a VS Code extension. It added browser-based execution via Cloud Agents, allowing users to run workflows without local setup.
The company said these updates are designed to help enterprises scale AI adoption and that customers are increasingly moving from pilot projects to production deployments on its platform.
