Global steel and mining major ArcelorMittal has established new global capability centres (GCCs) in Hyderabad and Pune.
The new entity, ArcelorMittal Global Business & Technologies (AMGBT), is designed to deliver integrated technology, digital innovation, and global business services to support ArcelorMittal’s operations, particularly across Europe, according to ANI. The centres are expected to scale rapidly, tapping into India’s deep talent pool to support enterprise-wide transformation and technology-enabled value creation.
AMGBT will house a wide range of functions, including digital technology, IT infrastructure, data and analytics, cyber security, finance and accounting, and others. Through standardised processes, advanced analytics, and scalable digital platforms, the GCCs aim to improve operational efficiency and drive innovation across ArcelorMittal’s global businesses.
The GCCs were digitally inaugurated by Lakshmi Mittal, along with Vijay Goyal, Executive Vice President and Regional CEO – Ukraine, Development Initiatives, and EME JVs; and Stephanie Werner-Dietz, Executive Vice President and Global Head of Human Resources.
Speaking on the launch, ArcelorMittal’s leadership highlighted India’s growing importance across multiple business segments, noting that continuous learning, technological agility, and the strength of young talent will be critical in shaping the future global economy.
Werner-Dietz, Executive VP and Global Head of Human Resources, reiterated ArcelorMittal’s commitment to talent development, supported by structured growth opportunities, strong learning frameworks, and a continued focus on diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI).
Nik Puri, Group CIO and CISO, said AMGBT is already delivering globally scaled projects, marking the beginning of a longer journey toward building centres of excellence powered by Hyderabad’s talent ecosystem and collaborative culture.
Looking ahead, AMGBT plans to hire nearly 2,000 professionals across digital technology, IT infrastructure, data science, cybersecurity, and global business services.
