US-based robotics startup, Skild AI, has opened a new office in Bengaluru, marking its first expansion outside the home country. The company said it seeks to tap India’s technology talent and strengthen its robotics and AI capabilities.
The company said it chose the city to recruit engineers, scale deployments, and accelerate development of its robotics systems. Skild AI said its goal is “omni-bodied intelligence – any robot, any task, one brain.”
The company said this effort depends on novel algorithms, including in-context learning in robotics, and that achieving this requires a high density of technical talent.
These systems include perception models, control policies, and deployment infrastructure.

It described Bengaluru as one of the strongest ecosystems for AI research, infrastructure, and software engineering. It added that the city combines startup momentum with academic depth.
“We didn’t want to collaborate at arm’s length. We wanted to build inside the ecosystem,” the company said in a statement.
Skild AI said a local presence will help it recruit robotics engineers, AI scientists and systems engineers. It also aims to diversify thinking across model architectures and deployment strategies, and strengthen infrastructure for large-scale deployments.
It also relies on large-scale data pipelines and feedback loops from real-world deployments. The Bengaluru expansion will increase the company’s ability to experiment, stress-test, and refine core systems.
With teams across the US West Coast and East Coast, and now Bengaluru, Skild AI said it is building a unified engineering organisation.
“More engineers. Faster iteration. Stronger systems,” the company said.
