Bengaluru-based space tech startup Xovian Aerospace has secured $2 million led by  investor Ashish Kacholia as it looks to accelerate the development of its AI-native radio frequency (RF) satellite infrastructure.

The funding will support the company in launching its first satellite and scaling a broader constellation designed to deliver real-time RF intelligence. Xovian will also use the capital to expand engineering and AI teams and strengthen commercial partnerships.

The investment follows an earlier $2.5 million pre-seed round led by Piper Serica, which enabled Xovian to develop its multi-frequency RF payload that is now scheduled for launch.

Founded in 2019 by Raghav Sharma and Ankit Bhateja, Xovian Aerospace is building a vertically integrated, space-based intelligence platform that captures and analyses RF signals. Unlike conventional satellite systems that rely primarily on optical data, the company’s approach focuses on decoding RF signals, often invisible but critical for detecting real-time activity across sectors.

“We started Xovian with the belief that the most critical signals shaping our world are often invisible,” Sharma, Co-founder, Xovian Aerospace, said in a statement. He added that as they move toward the first on-orbit mission, the focus is on building systems that not only observe but also interpret and anticipate risk.

The platform combines geospatial intelligence (GEOINT) and signals intelligence (SIGINT) into a unified decision-making layer, enabling applications across defence, aviation, maritime operations, infrastructure monitoring, and disaster response.

Kacholia noted that Xovian is developing “cutting-edge RF technology in space” and that there is potential to deliver actionable intelligence for both commercial and defence sectors.

“Xovian’s AI-native RF satellites address a critical gap in global intelligence infrastructure, particularly in sectors underserved by traditional sensing systems,” added Ajay Modi, director of investments at Piper Serica.

The company’s end-to-end ownership of its technology stack from satellite design to data processing aims to ensure higher data accuracy, lower latency, and faster innovation cycles.
