Coursera Announces Free Online Courses For India To Upskill During Second Wave

Recently, Coursera has announced to offer free courses for learners in India. The online learning platform offered a special collection of courses in three different categories, which are 

  • Free job skills courses from experts 
  • Free personal and professional development courses
  • Free courses from public health experts

In the Free job skills courses from experts category, besides universities, various courses from tech giants are also available. For instance, introduction to Intel Distribution of OpenVINO toolkit for Computer Vision applications, Migrating to Google Cloud, Getting started with AWS machine learning, among others.

In an official blog post, the learning platform stated, “Coursera’s global community holds India in our hearts in this challenging time. This special collection of courses from world-class experts is now free to learners in India.”

“Start learning by selecting a course below. Your discount to earn a free certificate will be applied at checkout,” the learning platform added.

It is also mentioned that the offers are subject to change and are valid through 30th June 2021.

A few days back, the platform has also announced the launch of five new degree programs at three of the world’s leading universities. The new degrees include the first programs on Coursera from universities in Brazil and India. 

Last year, the online learning platform made free access to more than 3,800 courses, 100 guided projects, 400 specializations, and 15 professional certificates on the Coursera for Campus platform. The initiative allowed all students from the 993 universities and over 50,000 colleges and standalone institutes in India that are currently under lockdown to continue learning and acquire relevant skills.
