Tech giant Google recently launched a website which includes almost all the information about coronavirus disease. In a blog post, Sundar Pichai, CEO of Google and Alphabet said that people continue to come to Google to search for vaccine information, travel advisories and prevention tips. For example, since the first week of February, search interest in coronavirus increased by +260% globally.

Few days back, Pichai said that the company has joined hands with the U.S. government in developing a website dedicated to COVID-19 education, prevention, and local resources nationwide. This website is specifically for those who are looking for information about symptoms, prevention or treatments.

In late January this year, the tech giant launched an SOS Alert with resources and safety information from the WHO, along with the latest news. Currently, the alert has been launched in 25 languages across dozens of countries, and people in more than 50 countries can access localised public health guidance from health authorities.

Some of the features that the website is mainly focussed on are health information, safety and prevention tips, data and insights, resources to help, support relief efforts and the latest news. It provides a detailed explanation of what the disease is, how it spreads, what are its symptoms and other such.

The website also promotes the “Do the Five” campaign to raise awareness of simple measures people can take to slow the spread of the disease, according to the WHO. The tech giant has also added useful information to our COVID-19 SOS Alerts, which include links to national health authority sites and a map of affected areas from the WHO.

The website includes best practices on prevention, links to authoritative information from the World Health Organisation (WHO) and the Centers for Disease Control (CDC). It also includes helpful tips and tools from Google for individuals, teachers and businesses. The tech giant will further continue to enhance and update it with more resources on an ongoing basis.
