How This IoT-Based Startup Is Helping Companies With Smart Gadgets

“SenseGiz’s goal is to harness mobile IoT and cloud computing technology to help companies.” – Abhishek Latthe, Founder at SenseGiz Technologies

Since businesses always seek to stay ahead of the competition, the intelligent use of data is vital for transforming their products and services. Also, advancements in technology encourage them to assess the data and understand customer needs. In this way, IoT can be a helpful asset, helping in consciously capturing data from various sources.

This enables enterprises to capitalise for better analysis and improvement of the business. Additionally, combining this with artificial intelligence gives companies the ability to explore more various sources and get valuable insights that can drive business productivity and efficiency.

With a similar vision, Belgaum-based SenseGiz has been striving to create enterprise and industrial IoT products for sensor-based condition monitoring, security, and real-time asset/people tracking applications.

Founded by Abhishek Latthe in 2013, SenseGiz is an IoT startup that provides an end-to-end enterprise IoT solution for condition monitoring, predictive maintenance, perimeter security and real-time asset/people tracking by using a combination of proprietary mesh connected hardware, cloud, analytics, and apps.

The company had raised three crores of funding from Karnataka Semiconductor Venture Capital Fund in 2015 and raised $335,000 from Keiretsu in March 2019, and the team is looking to raise Series A round later this year. It has offices in Pune and Bangalore and offshore offices in Japan and the US, with 45 employees spread across engineering, sales, and marketing and admin roles.

Flagship Products

SenseGiz products are patented and built in India with an R&D team while operating in various countries like India, Spain, South Africa, Japan, and the US. Latthe explained that the company started in 2013 and initially, it came up with two products based on IoT – FIND, a device tracker that stops one from losing their belongings, and a wearable device to focus on health safety monitoring.

The product, IoT-FIND wore by the user has a unique ID that is locked to the user to help in unique identification and collected data is delivered to the cloud. The analysis is done on cloud in real-time, and notifications can be sent via SMS or email.

The flagship product named COIN creates a large, ultra-low power proprietary mesh network of sensor nodes, which can be connected to the cloud via Wi-Fi/Ethernet/LTE gateways. Each sensor node communicates with other tiny sensor nodes as well as with the cloud.

It is an end-to-end solution for predictive maintenance, environment condition monitoring, perimeter security, and real-time indoor asset and people management, which uses a combination of proprietary mesh connected hardware, cloud, analytics, and machine learning.

Latthe mentioned some of the features of COIN:

  • Compact Design- Small and compact design with multiple sensors like temperature, humidity, accelerometer and gyroscope.
  • Data-Driven Decision- Using COIN, the user can monitor key metrics, analyse past trends, generate reports and analyse data to get actionable insights into the operations. The machine learning algorithms can also predict failure of the assets.
  • Custom Deployment- Monitor temperature, humidity, motion, vibration, assets and people in real-time. Get alerts and notification in real-time. Displacement, velocity and acceleration can also be monitored in real-time.
  • Wide Applications- COIN can be used for a wide range of applications such as condition monitoring, security solutions for perimeter, real-time locating systems for asset tracking, geofencing solutions, people tracking and many more.

Patents & Power Proprietary Mesh Network

Talking about the patents, Latthe explained that the company had created a low powered point to point mesh network of tiny low-cost sensor nodes. The mesh network is based on top of Bluetooth 5. It has an effective communication speed of 1 Mbps, suitable for high speed and high data applications with self-learning and self-healing capabilities.

He also mentioned that they have a self-hoping and self-healing COIN mesh. In case, due to any reason, anyone COIN from the mesh stops working, the mesh identifies this and forms an intelligent mesh by identifying previous and later nodes and skips the non-working COIN to create a new mesh layout by healing itself. This way, the data is continuously relayed across all COINs without disruption.

How Is It Different From Other Products In The Market

FIND uses electronic modules, which ensures high accuracy compared to the use of different smartphones from manufacturers with varying accuracy when used for social distancing or tracing. The product also helps prevent overcrowding in one area in offices or shop-floors. Through COIN, the company has created a proprietary low powered point to point mesh network of tiny low-cost sensor nodes.

Latthe said, “We provide efficient and cost-effective solutions compared to our competitors, which make us the most preferred company in this industry. We also provide the entire solution including cloud and analytics and, our cloud supports APIs for users who wish to build their own applications on top of our back end and leave all the computations and data storage tasks to our intelligent cloud.”

Core Tech Stack @ SenseGiz

In terms of scripting, SenseGiz works on Nodejs, PHP, an API framework, Express.js and database on MongoDB. For the frontend, the company uses Angular 8 as the base platform. In terms of AI, ML and analytics, the company has their own Statistical Data Algorithm (SDA) that has developed in-house and helps to process huge quantities of data and share real-time dashboards with the customers (admin).

Future Roadmap

Latthe stated that apart from the solution in focus against the COVID-19 pandemic, the main focus continues to serve the customers with solutions for predictive maintenance, environment condition monitoring, perimeter security, real-time indoor asset and people management worldwide. “We are in an expansion phase and have enlisted ten new team members during the lockdown period as well. We are also aiming to be a ₹100 crore revenue company in the next two years,” said Latthe on a concluding note.
