IIT Kanpur To Offer Free Statistics Courses During The Lockdown Period

To help students stay productive amidst lockdown, Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur decided to offer free statistics courses in assistance with professor Shalabh from the department of mathematics and statistics at IIT Kanpur.

In a recent LinkedIn post, IIT Kanpur confirmed the news stating — “Prof. Shalabh of Department of Mathematics & Statistics, IIT Kanpur is offering free courses during the lockdown period.”

IIT Kanpur’s post also stated the links of the study notes and MOOC video lecture. It included — Regression Analysis, Sampling Theory, Design of Experiment and Analysis of Variance, Econometric Theory, Linear Regression Analysis and Forecasting, Introduction to R Software, and Descriptive Statistics with R Software.

With these courses, students will now be able to take up mathematics, and statistical courses at home and the news was broken through social media platforms like LinkedIn, Facebook and Twitter. The students will be able to download these through their IIT Kanpur’s website.

Dr Shalabh is a professor of statistics at IIT Kanpur, and his research areas of interest are linear models, regression analysis and econometrics. He has more than 23 years of experience in teaching and research and has also developed several webs based and MOOC courses in NPTEL on regression analysis. Additionally, he has conducted several workshops on statistics for teachers, researchers and practitioners.
