Under Ronnie Screwvala's leadership, upGrad has made AI central to its learning portfolio, with nearly 50% of programmes now AI-focused—spanning machine learning, data science, generative AI, and agentic AI—developed in partnership with IITs, IIMs, and global universities. 

A landmark collaboration with OpenAI integrates frontier AI tools directly into the curriculum. A partnership with Microsoft delivered Generative AI certification programmes for working professionals, whilst TrueFan AI enables multilingual lecture delivery.

Screwvala also launched the upGrad AI Incubator, backed by ₹100 crore, to fund AI-led startups in the learning and skilling space. 

Across the learner journey, upGrad has embedded AI through personalised pathways, adaptive assessments, automated grading, and intelligent simulations.
