In another innovation in the large language model generation space, LG AI Research has revealed its new artificial intelligence language model “Exaone”, with capabilities of tuning 300 billion different parameters or variables, as per various media reports. Exaone refers to “expert AI for everyone” and can process the data through efficiency and advanced language skills made available to the system.
The reports also said that LG AI Research has trained “Exaone” to curate, ingest and interpret massive datasets. It has a more advanced natural language processing to reach a “human-like” language performance.

Korean and English: Dual Advantage
A unique point about Exaone is that it has been trained to perform both in Korean and English. Due to this, it has the potential for wider adoption globally. The reports added that LG said it aims to nurture Exaone as a top 1 per cent AI expert with plans to get it used in almost all sectors such as manufacturing, research, education and finance.
Already adopted by LG’s key units
This model has already been adopted by LG’s key units like LG Electronics, LG Chem, LG Uplus and LG CNS for various uses, such as building an improved chatbot or covering a new material by analyzing complex chemicals research papers published over the past 100 years.
This AI research centre was launched last year to further advance tech research and development projects by LG and LG affiliates. It plans to develop this centre in three phases – advance the system in collaboration with LG affiliates, create a global AI alliance and build an ecosystem for the larger AI application and adoption.
