Microsoft CTO Kevin Scott is particularly enthusiastic about AI’s potential in coding, exemplified by tools like GitHub Copilot. Scott imagines AI as a ‘copilot’ across various industries, augmenting human capabilities rather than replacing jobs.
He played a crucial role in Microsoft’s partnership with OpenAI, calling it “one of the most consequential partnerships Microsoft has ever had”. He is actively working to leverage this collaboration to enhance Microsoft’s AI capabilities.
Scott frequently engages in public discussions, sharing insights on AI trends and Microsoft’s strategies, and hosts a podcast, Behind the Tech with Kevin Scott.
Guided by Scott, Microsoft is integrating AI across its product suite, including Azure, Microsoft 365, and Surface devices. He is focused on making AI more accessible and practical for both developers and end-users. He has also hinted at a ‘super important’ new AI model or product set to emerge before the end of 2024, suggesting continued innovation beyond GPT-4.
