One of the rising gurus of the open source community, Maxime Labonne never sits quiet. He created the LLM Course GPT for learning how to build LLMs and is also one of the top contributors for Hugging Face right now. Labonne is an open source enthusiast and a machine learning scientist at JP Morgan and is the creator of several open-source projects loved by developers.
“In the long run, open source is [going to be] too powerful and there are way too many people who want to experiment with it right now.” Labonne’s words are coming true with the release of almost every small language model.
“It is like there are monkeys with a typewriter – one of them will create a masterpiece at some point.” Labonne doesn’t like talking about AGI as he believes that it will come when it has to, and we might need something more than just LLMs.
