SIBIA Analytics raises seed investment from investors from India and USA


SIBIA Analytics, a Kolkata based start-up in the area of predictive analytics, has raised an undisclosed amount in seed investment from a group of investors from India and USA including Radhakrishnan Natarajan and other prominent leading IT and Banking professionals. SIBIA plans to invest this fund in scaling up its marketing and sales and capture new markets in India and overseas. A part of the fund is also to be used or improving the products.

SIBIA provides predictive analytics solutions though its products and customized services for retail and consumer brands. It counts top FMCG and retail companies in India as its customers.

 “The emerging businesses across the world are still to leverage the benefits of analytics. The appreciation that analytics can improve their bottom lines or increase top lines significantly; has just started to come in. However, the large scale analytics implementations are beyond budgets for most of these companies. We come in to play here and offer our low cost yet high value, cloud hosted analytics solutions to the clients, and help them start the journey of analytics” said Angshuman Bhattacharya the CEO.

SIBIA has developed two cutting edge predictive analytics solutions that is being tested by a number of customers. A larger number of clients across India and USA are using SIBIA’s customized analytics solutions. SIBIA has created a niche delivery platform for its predictive analytics products by using open source technologies and cloud computing to a great extent.

Early this year, SIBIA has been inducted to MJunction’s incubation program and the team has been operating out of MJunction’s facility at Sector V, Salt Lake City, Kolkata. SIBIA is working closely with MJunction and developing solutions that are being jointly offered to prospective clients in India.

Angshuman Bhattacharya, a veteran analytics leader, has started this company in 2013. Prior to that Angshuman has worked for SymphonyIRI, Cognizant and Wipro and has led analytics practices and CoEs. Angshu is an Economist by training and is a Jadavpur University alumni.

Krishna Iyer joined the company in 2014 as a co-founder. Krishna is an IIM-A alumni and has worked at ICICI and Cognizant and built successful businesses. He has been an early life entrepreneur in the Fin Tech domain with a successful exit. Both the founders together bring in 40+ years of experience in the company in the analytics and technology domain.

While the Indian domestic market is very nascent in terms of maturity and adoption of analytics (a survey confirmed that only 8 out of top 20 companies by revenue, are using analytics), it is growing quite fast. SIBIA keeps a strong focus in serving the domestic market and create great success stories for his customers.
