For this week’s startup column, Analytics India Magazine spoke to Abhinav Girdhar, Founder and CEO of Appy Pie, to understand how the Noida-based startup is leveraging emerging technologies like AI and machine learning to democratise application development.
Founded in 2016 by Abhinav Girdhar, Appy Pie is a no-code mobile application development platform. The mission of the company is:

Flagship Product
According to Girdhar, Appy Pie’s app builder changed the face of the mobile app development industry. Using Appy Pie’s proprietary no-code technology, anyone can build an app in a few minutes.
He said, “The app builder has found quite a promising response and recently, the chatbot builder has found great favour with the customers. Chatbots have great potential in terms of customer support, database management, lead generation and qualification, appointment booking, and more.”
Girdhar cited three reasons for the runaway success of their flagship product:

“No code platforms have helped business users turn their challenges into opportunities and convert their ideas to apps in mere minutes. An entire generation of citizen developers have emerged putting a stop to the evolution of shadow IT and reducing the mounting load on the ever-busy IT department in businesses,” said Girdhar.
He added, “Another important contribution of the no-code platform is in bridging the gap between big and small industry players by making technology accessible and affordable.”
What’s The Differentiator?
According to Girdhar, the company stands out in terms of competitive pricing, round the clock assistance from start to finish, submission to app stores, real-time updates, and being a single platform for multiple business solutions.
Use of AI @ Appy Pie
“We use AI to build the app binaries. We call this technology internally as smart queuing, where the system generates the app binaries for those customers who need the most depending upon the trained model, thereby reducing the app delivery times,” Girdhar said. Based on the user’s category selection, the AI recommends relevant features that will be most beneficial to the end-user, he added.
Core Tech Stack
The technology stack at Appy Pie has components built on LAMP, MEAN, MERN. Also, the company leverages the Big 3 (AWS, MS Azure, GCP) cloud platforms. According to Girdhar, the Appy pie recently made significant progress on moving to a serverless architecture, and have used Firebase, DynamoDB, Cloud Functions to that end.

At Appy Pie, the HR team proactively goes headhunting on job portals, social media platforms, and has created a rich resource pool of talented professionals. The minimum eligibility criteria for potential recruits include relevance to profile, confidence in abilities, flexibility, willingness to learn and work ethics and values.
Roadmap
Asked about future plans, Girdhar said, “We are diversifying from a single product SAAS to multi-product SAAS and have recently launched Task Automation product called Connect. We are in the process of launching two new products, Chatbot builder & Design.” He added, “Over the next five years, our mission is to democratise application development by empowering anyone to build digital products.”
