Reliance Group’s Internet of Things (IoT) arm, Unlimit has decided to enter into a partnership with China-based Fibocom to introduce wireless communications modules and solutions for IoT and mobile internet to the Indian market. With this partnership, India will witness the launch innovative designs and next-gen applications.
This move will facilitate a robust infrastructure for digital growth, which will in turn narrow down the gap between India and other developing and developed countries. Juergen Hase, Chief Executive Officer, Unlimit comments, “With the number of connected devices in India projected to rise from 200 million today to 3 billion by 2020, nearly every part of the economy will be positively impacted by IoT.”
Moreover, Unlimit’s partnership with Fibocom was in alignment with the ‘Digital India‘ plan. The focus shall lie on creating citizen-shared infrastructure, management and services on demand, as well as data authority for each Indian citizen. “The extensive customer base and channel network of Fibocom will help to introduce China’s innovative design and famous applications to the Indian market,” remarks Qi Guangzhi, Vice President, Fibocom.
The partnership will facilitate the designing and manufacturing of wireless modules and IoT solutions. This in turn will enable communications among machines, equipment, vehicles, and assets over wireless networks.
Recent reports suggest that the IoT market will grow at a CAGR of 28 per cent over the next 5 years. Transport, wellness, healthcare, buildings, homes, factories, agriculture, livestock, electric grids, and water supply networks are some of the sectors that are expected to receive early benefits.
