Some of the speakers to look out for at NVIDIA GTC 2021:
The exciting and inspiring lineup of speakers at the GTC represents the world’s preeminent AI researchers and pioneers of deep learning, data science, high-performance computing, graphics, and more. Some of the top names that we identified include:
- Dr. Fei-Fei Li, Stanford University, professor and who amongst her many accomplishments is also the inventor of ImageNet and the ImageNet Challenge, a critical large-scale dataset and benchmarking effort that has contributed to the latest developments in deep learning and AI. In addition to her technical contributions, she is also a national leading voice for advocating diversity in STEM and AI. In her live talk at this GTC, Dr. Li will discuss her research into ‘ambient intelligence’ — smart, sensor-based solutions that augment the awareness and capabilities of human clinicians to close the gaps of patient safety and care.
- Ilya Sutskever, co-founder and chief scientist at OpenAI will be live at GTC discussing in his session, the history of deep learning, what it can do today, and what the future might hold.
- Dr. Anima Anandkumar – NVIDIA, director of ML research and also Bren professor at Caltech CMS department and whose research spans both theoretical and practical aspects of machine learning, will be presenting exciting recent advances that build new foundations in AI that are applicable to a wide range of problems, such as fluid dynamics and quantum chemistry.
There are many other luminaries who will be participating live at this GTC, including thought leaders like Michael Kagan – NVIDIA, CTO, Gal Chechik – NVIDIA, Director of AI, Tim Sweeney – Epic Games, CEO & Founder, David Baker – the University of Washington, Professor of Biochemistry, Adam Rashid – JBG Smith, SVP, Smart Cities Practice, Alan Bekker – Snap Inc., Head of Conversational AI, Beena Ammanath – Deloitte AI Institute, Executive Director, Paul Newman – Professor & CTO, Oxbotica, Nir Zuk – Palo Alto Networks, Founder & CTO, Vijay Narayanan -ServiceNow, Chief AI Officer, Steve Walker – Lockheed Martin, CTO, Director.
This GTC will feature from India, sessions across HPC+AI, Digital Twin, Healthcare and Conversational AI including a Panel titled ‘Advancing Scientific Discoveries with AI’ with panellists from top Institutes across the country discussing the Convergence of HPC and AI and the necessity to develop and teach AI to students of the scientific community. Tata Consulting Services is presenting on how they worked along with NVIDIA to accelerate Digital Twin performances across entity modelling and explainability of simulation results. ARTPARK session will discuss COVID Detection from Chest X-ray images captured using mobile phones and WhatsApp; this is a Healthcare-focused session that details the solution build-and-deployment architecture that was used to meet the exacting accuracy requirements of COVID-positive identification, and the rapid diagnosis that helped triage potential COIVID-positive cases during the peak of the pandemic in India. The session by Unacademy will detail a novel approach to achieve better OCR performance and reduce dependency on external APIs to extract text from student-uploaded images. The large user community of Omniverse in India will have a special User Meetup.

Focus on Startups, Educational Content
This year, special emphasis will be given to startups. NVIDIA Inception, a startup accelerator with more than 8,500+ members, will be hosting a full track at GTC, curated to educate, inform and cultivate budding companies that are revolutionizing industries worldwide. 70+ startups will be presenting, including prominent founders and well-known industry partners. The themes and topics include conversational AI, autonomous systems, drug discovery, emerging markets and more.
GTC attendees will also get a chance to build their skills with NVIDIA Deep Learning Institute (DLI). The program offers educational resources for anyone who wants to learn about all things AI. GTC DLI will feature full-day training workshops, ranging from beginner to advanced, in four languages across several time zones that include ‘Fundamentals of Deep Learning,’ along with new training courses like ‘Scaling CUDA C++ Applications to Multiple Nodes’ and ‘Accelerating Data Engineering Pipelines’ and advanced courses like Applications of AI for Predictive Maintenance, English (DLIW1387). Two of the DLI courses are specifically curated for India convenient times- Fundamentals of Deep Learning, English (DLIW1394) and Building Transformer-Based Natural Language Processing Applications, English (DLIW1395). At $99 early bird pricing at this GTC, these DLI courses are a steal and we would recommend these foundational courses that will interest any of the Global Services Majors or Global Captives companies or for those startup founders in their quest to reduce the learning curve of their key engineers that they are skilling/reskilling to support AI initiatives.
