Born at Stanford University, WiDS started as a single-day tech conference in 2015 and has now grown into a transformative force in the field of data science. 

With its unwavering dedication to empowering women and fostering innovation in the realm of data science, The Women in Data Science (WiDS) conference has become a global movement in promoting diversity and inclusivity. 

WiDS brings together women professionals and researchers to discuss, learn and explore the latest in data science across domains. It is also an opportunity to know more about how leading tech companies are using data science for success, and connect with potential mentors and collaborators in the field!

About WiDS Bangalore @ Intuit – 

The upcoming WiDS Bangalore @ Intuit is an independent regional event organised by Intuit India, taking place in Bangalore on June 20, 2023. The event aims to bring together over 50 professionals in data science, creating a unique platform for knowledge-sharing and career advancement. This year, for the first time ever, WiDS Bangalore @ Intuit will include an exciting mentoring session with women leaders in data science that will give participants an opportunity to get insights and tips on excelling in the field from some of the best in the industry!

Origins of WiDS

The brainchild of Stanford University, WiDS began as a one-day technical conference and has evolved into a powerful movement in data science. Now, WiDS encompasses a wide range of programs, including conferences, a datathon, a podcast series, workshops focused on skill-building, and tailored programs for the next generation of data scientists. With each passing year, WiDS Worldwide programs reach over 100,000 participants, making it a beacon of change and opportunity.

Notable speakers to watch out for:

Soma Biswas, IISc: Biswas, who is currently an associate professor at the Indian Institute of Science, will deliver a keynote session on ‘Data Efficient Matching’. She is also a senior member at IEEE. 

Preksha Nema, Google Research: The research scientist from Google will be conducting a tech talk on ‘Structured data to Analytical Text Generation’. Her work revolves around understanding and generating purposeful ads, with a focus on multilingual and low-resource settings. She was awarded Google PhD India Fellowship in 2017.

Kalika Bali, Microsoft Research: Bali is a researcher at Microsoft Research India working in the areas of Machine Learning, Natural Language Systems and Applications. At the Bangalore event, she will be addressing the ‘Gender Bias in AI’. 

The upcoming WiDS Bangalore at Intuit India event in Bangalore marks a significant milestone in this journey, uniting talented professionals and offering a platform for collaboration and personal development.
