Industrial conglomerate 3M has announced plans to open a new technology centre in Bengaluru. The company has had a tech hub in Bengaluru since 2011, and a new design centre was opened in 2018 within the same tech centre. In a statement, the company stated that 3M will complete its first 1,000 employees within the first 18 months and expand its footprint further.
The senior vice president of digital transformation at 3M, Shaun Braun, stated that the tech hub in the city was a step forward towards the company’s goal of a digitally connected future. The company will address customer challenges by advancement in technology that combines its material and digital sciences.
Braun underlined the importance of Bengaluru in advancing digital innovation and explained that the centre will help with growing its technical talent force, increase its operational value and fasten the speed of delivery of products. “Our tech centre of excellence in Bengaluru is the cornerstone to fully realising this vision,” he added.
The Post-It manufacturer has joined hands with the consulting firm ANSR to build global capability centres. “3M has a strong India presence. The tech centre of excellence underscores how deeply it has embedded itself in the Indian ecosystem with advanced analytics, automation and AI/ML capabilities,” CEO and founder Lalit Ahuja said.
