The investment of ₹1,583 crore will create over 8,000 jobs and strengthen Cognizant's capabilities in AI and digital transformation.

The proposed campus will be located in Kapuluppada, IT Hills, spanning 22 acres. The expansion will be completed in three phases, with the first phase expected to finish by early 2029.

Until the campus is fully developed, Cognizant will begin operations in Visakhapatnam by early 2026 from a temporary facility with a seating capacity for 800 associates.

“Cognizant’s presence will further accelerate the region’s digital economy while boosting technology skills needed for the workforce of the future," Nara Lokesh, minister for IT, electronics & communication, Human Resources development and RTG, Government of Andhra Pradesh said.

This new campus is part of Cognizant's ongoing efforts to expand its presence in India’s tier 2 cities. Since 2024, the company has established new delivery centres in Bhubaneswar, Indore, and GIFT City in Gujarat. These centres are focused on agility, collaboration, and innovation, aiming to provide the best employee experience.

“With its abundant talent pool and robust infrastructure, Visakhapatnam stands as a strong partner in our mission to develop the digital workforce of tomorrow,"Ravi Kumar S, CEO of Cognizant said.

India remains a critical hub for Cognizant, with more than 70% of its 336,300 associates based in the country.
