Meta recently announced that it appointed Vikas Purohit as the director and head of the global business group in India.
With this new role, Purohit will lead strategic initiatives and collaborations with top brands and advertising agencies in the country, helping Meta grow its revenue across platforms. He will also closely work with the media and creative ecosystem to help advertisers and agencies adopt digital tools.
He will report to Arun Srinivas, director and head of Ads business for Meta in India. Srinivas was elevated from director and head of the global business group in October 2022.
Before joining Meta, Purohit was the CEO of Tata CLiQ, an e-commerce wing of the Tata Group. He has over two decades of experience in senior business, sales, and marketing positions, working with companies like Aditya Birla Group, Tommy Hilfiger, Reliance Brands, and Amazon.
An IIM-B alumnus, Purohit began his professional career with Aditya Birla Group before moving on to Tommy Hilfiger, Reliance Brands. He was also instrumental in leading Amazon Fashion.
This announcement comes after Ajit Mohan, the head of Meta’s India operations, was replaced by Sandhya Devanathan in November 2022. Mohan left Meta to join rival Snap’s Asia Pacific business.
