ST Telemedia Global Data Centres (India) (STT GDC India), one of the country’s leading data centre providers, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the government of Maharashtra to invest up to ₹5,000 crore in new and expanded data centre campuses in Mumbai and Pune.

According to the company’s  press release, the agreement was signed in Mumbai in the presence of Maharashtra chief minister Devendra Fadnavis, senior government officials, and leaders from STT GDC.

The investment will fund the expansion of STT GDC’s existing data centre parks and the development of a new 27-acre campus in Palava, designed to support high-performance and AI-related computing.

The projects are expected to create more than 500 skilled jobs and around 2,000 indirect employment opportunities, contributing to Maharashtra’s growing digital economy.

“This collaboration underscores our shared commitment to accelerating digital transformation and positioning Maharashtra as a preferred destination for global technology infrastructure,” Bruno Lopez, president and group chief executive officer of ST Telemedia Global Data Centres, said.

Fadnavis said that this investment marks a key step forward in Maharashtra’s digital journey.
