Adani Targets 3 GW Data Centre Capacity by 2030, Bets on Nuclear Power
Gautam Adani says infrastructure and intelligence will be the twin pillars of growth as the group expands its digital infrastructure footprint.
Adani Group Chairman Gautam Adani has outlined an ambitious digital infrastructure roadmap, positioning AI and data centres as critical pillars of the conglomerate's next phase of growth.
Addressing shareholders at the group's annual general meeting (AGM), Adani said the conglomerate's strategy would be driven by the twin themes of "accelerating infrastructure" and "leveraging intelligence," reflecting a broader shift towards integrating AI capabilities across its businesses.
As part of that vision, Adani said the group's data centre business is targeting 3 GW of capacity by 2030, making it one of the largest digital infrastructure ambitions in the country. He highlighted a major agreement with Google for a gigawatt-scale data centre project in Visakhapatnam, describing digital infrastructure as a key foundation for India's AI-led growth.
He said the group sees AI-driven intelligence and physical infrastructure as the twin engines powering India's future competitiveness and sovereignty. The strategy seeks to combine the group's strengths across energy, logistics, transport, and industrial infrastructure with emerging digital infrastructure requirements.
Adani also underscored the growing link between energy and computing infrastructure. Announcing the group's entry into the nuclear power sector through Adani Atomic Energy, he said the company aims to develop 10 GW of nuclear capacity by 2035 through renewable energy.
Beyond infrastructure investments, Adani said the group is restructuring itself for the AI era through a three-layer organisational model aimed at faster decision-making and execution. He added that the company has an industrialised workforce training program that delivers thousands of training hours to strengthen workforce readiness for future technologies.
