AI company Anthropic has appointed Sangeeta Bavi as Head of Digital Natives, Startups and Growth for India.
Bavi announced the move in a LinkedIn post on May 26, saying the role aligns closely with her long-standing work with founders and startup ecosystems.
“Founders have always held a special place in mine,” Bavi wrote. “Their ambition, resilience and belief that they can change the world have taught me more than any other form of learning.”
About joining Anthropic, she said its people, mission and way of thinking “clicked deeply.” She described the company as “a place built on the conviction that AI must be safe and genuinely beneficial for humanity.”
The appointment comes as Anthropic accelerates its India expansion. Earlier this year, the company named Irina Ghose as Managing Director for India and plans to open its first India office in Bengaluru.
Backed by Google and Amazon, Anthropic has been increasing its focus on enterprise AI adoption and developer ecosystems globally. India has emerged as one of the company’s key markets, particularly for coding and technical AI use cases.
In her new role, Bavi is expected to work closely with founders, startups, and growth-stage companies adopting AI technologies.
“India is at an extraordinary inflection point,” she wrote. “Our founders and growth-stage companies are not just adopting AI, they are building with it, scaling with it, and taking it to every corner of the economy.”
Before joining Anthropic, Bavi spent more than a decade at Microsoft, where she led the company’s Digital Natives and startup initiatives in India and South Asia. Her work included building programs for early-stage startups, growth companies, and unicorns, while helping shape Microsoft’s startup engagement model in India.
