Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) has secured a long-term strategic contract from Swedish industrial manufacturer SKF to modernise its global technology operations and build AI-led enterprise capabilities, as India’s largest IT services firm deepens its push into large-scale transformation deals centred on artificial intelligence.
Under the partnership, TCS will provide managed services across SKF’s applications, infrastructure, data, security, connectivity and end-user services operations globally, according to a company statement issued on May 27.
The Mumbai-headquartered IT major said the engagement will involve modernising SKF’s existing technology landscape using AI-led workflows, while also helping standardise operations and accelerate the adoption of next-generation enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems.
The financial details of the contract were not disclosed.
The deal comes at a time when large global enterprises are increasingly looking to embed AI capabilities into core operations, prompting IT services companies to reposition traditional infrastructure and applications management work around AI-enabled transformation programmes.
“The next decade of industrial manufacturing will be defined by how deeply companies integrate AI into how they design, produce, and serve. SKF intends to lead that shift,” SKF chief executive Rickard Gustafson said in the statement.
TCS Managing Director and Chief Executive K Krithivasan said the partnership aimed at building a “resilient, scalable digital foundation” for SKF while applying AI and data-driven intelligence to improve agility and long-term competitiveness.
SKF, which makes bearings, seals, lubrication systems and industrial monitoring solutions, operates in around 130 countries.
For TCS, the deal further strengthens its presence in the Nordic region, where the company has operated since 1991. Currently, over 20,000 TCS employees support leading enterprises in Sweden, Finland, Norway, and Denmark.
The partnership also reflects a broader trend among global manufacturers looking to overhaul legacy technology systems while building AI capabilities into business processes and products.
“Together, we are applying data-driven intelligence and AI to create an agile enterprise that can adapt to technological and market change while supporting long-term sustainable growth and competitiveness. This collaboration reflects our joint commitment to making SKF an AI-native, industry-leading, technology-driven industrial manufacturer,” Krithivasan added.
