German chemicals major BASF is set to establish a global service hub and a global digital hub in Hyderabad, further reinforcing the city’s position as a fast-growing global capability centre (GCC) destination.
The hubs are expected to become operational in the second quarter of 2026, as per the official release.
The company handed over a letter of intent (LOI) to Duddilla Sridhar Babu, Telangana’s Minister for Information Technology, Electronics, Communications, and Industries and Commerce.
The hubs will be operated under BASF Global Business Services Private Limited and will support the company’s global operations across functions such as finance, human resources, supply chain, regulatory services, and in-house consulting.
The integrated centres are expected to play a central role in standardising processes, driving operational efficiency, and enabling digital transformation across BASF’s global business units.
Hyderabad was selected following a competitive global evaluation, with the company citing the city’s skilled talent pool, business-friendly policies, and mature enterprise ecosystem as key factors.
Highlighting the state’s ambitions, Sridhar Babu said, “Today, Hyderabad stands among the fastest-growing GCC hubs in the country, surpassing most major cities and adding over 75 GCCs in the past year alone. We are now setting our sights even higher, with a target of over 100 new GCCs and more than one lakh jobs this year.”
“As we evolve from an incubation destination into a leading innovation and engineering capital, this growth is being anchored by forward-looking initiatives such as AIKAM, the industry-led Young India Skills University, and upcoming projects including a 200-acre AI city, a quantum hub, and 1BioLab,” he added.
The development underscores Hyderabad’s growing appeal across sectors, including technology, life sciences, and chemicals. The city already hosts major global enterprises, such as NVIDIA, Microsoft, Google, Vanguard, Eli Lilly and Company, Marriott International, and The Hartford.
Tobias Dratt, President of Global Business Services at BASF, said, “With the opening of our Global Service Hub in Hyderabad, we are creating a strong foundation for the future of Global Business Services. Hyderabad offers the right ecosystem and talent base to support scalable, high-quality services for BASF’s businesses worldwide.”
Meanwhile, Alexander Gerding, Managing Director of BASF India Limited and Head of BASF Group Companies in India, said, “The establishment of our global hub in Hyderabad marks a significant milestone and opens a new chapter in BASF’s long-standing presence in India. Building on our strong manufacturing and research and development footprint, this step directly supports our ‘Winning Ways’ strategy and strengthens our global capabilities.”
“With both our Global Business Services and Global Digital Services operating from the same location in Hyderabad, we’ll be able to harness shared strengths and collaboration opportunities, further reinforcing the city’s growing strategic importance within BASF’s global network,” Gerding added.
The Hyderabad hub will join BASF’s global network alongside centres in Berlin, Kuala Lumpur, and Montevideo, supporting coordinated, technology-led operations across regions
