Bengaluru continues to dominate India’s startup ecosystem, attracting $823 million in funding across 89 deals in the first quarter of 2026, according to a LinkedIn post by Priyank Kharge, Karnataka’s IT and BT Minister, reinforcing its position as the country’s leading innovation hub.
He further stated that the funding momentum places Bengaluru well ahead of its closest competitors. Delhi-NCR recorded $538 million across 74 deals during the same period, while Mumbai saw $402 million raised across 34 deals. This highlights a significant gap in both capital inflow and deal activity.
The city’s sustained lead underscores the strength of its deeply entrenched startup ecosystem, which continues to draw high-quality founders and global investors. Bengaluru is now regarded as the largest startup hub outside the United States, Europe, and China, and ranks as the world’s fifth-largest unicorn hub.
Industry observers attribute this dominance to a compounding ecosystem effect, where access to talent, capital, and innovation infrastructure reinforces growth across sectors.
From deeptech to consumer-facing technologies, startups in Bengaluru continue to outperform peers across key segments, cementing the city’s central role in shaping India’s innovation economy.
Meanwhile, as per the report, Bengaluru maintained its dominance in 2025, recording 477 deals and raising $6.03 billion, increasing its share of total startup funding to 46.14%, up from 35.08% the previous year.
Delhi-NCR ranked second with 301 deals worth $2.57 billion, followed by Mumbai with 182 deals totaling $2.26 billion. Among other key hubs, Pune recorded 51 deals valued at $409.43 million, while Chennai reported 53 deals amounting to $281.91 million.
Sector-wise, fintech emerged as the top-funded segment, attracting $2.89 billion across 154 deals and accounting for 22.08% of the total capital deployed. E-commerce followed with $1.88 billion raised across 176 deals. AI startups secured $1.31 billion through 113 deals, while the healthtech sector recorded 100 deals worth $1.27 billion.
