DePuy Synthes, the orthopaedics business of Johnson & Johnson MedTech, plans to establish a global capability centre (GCC) in Bengaluru that will serve as a global hub for innovation, engineering, technology and enterprise services.
The company expects to build a team of approximately 500 professionals at the centre over the next 18–24 months, with recruitment and initial operational activities set to begin in August.
The new GCC will bring together technology, data and business capabilities to support clinical innovation and operational excellence for patients, surgeons and healthcare partners globally. The centre will house capabilities including software development, data and AI, enterprise applications, technology services and cybersecurity, among other functions.
“India is one of the fastest-growing markets in the world for orthopaedic care, and this investment deepens our long-term commitment to patients, surgeons, and colleagues here,” said Namal Nawana, Worldwide President, DePuy Synthes.
The company said the centre will be established in phases, with recruitment forming part of the initial operational activities. While the initial workforce is expected to comprise around 500 professionals, DePuy Synthes said the centre will have room to expand as it matures.
The GCC will be led by Nicholas Parrotta, Chief Information Officer at DePuy Synthes. He will be supported by technology and local leadership as the company plans and establishes the centre and its future operations.
Dr Jai Ganesh, Chief Technology Officer at DePuy Synthes, will oversee technology engineering, architecture, infrastructure, cybersecurity engineering and digital platforms for the company. Nagaraj Bhat, GCC Leader at DePuy Synthes, will support the establishment of local operations and the centre’s leadership team.
The Bengaluru centre is expected to serve as a global engine for innovation and engineering, bringing together technology and business capabilities that can support DePuy Synthes’ operations across markets.
The company’s decision comes as India continues to expand its role as a hub for global engineering, technology, data and AI operations. For DePuy Synthes, the new centre is expected to provide access to India’s technology talent while supporting the company’s broader innovation and digital capabilities
